Q1. 12 V or 24 V – which low-voltage supply do I need?
12 V DC– easiest for small statuary fountains; use any weather-proof landscape transformer.
24 V DC – preferred above 20 W or when cable run > 10 m (less voltage drop).
Never plug the bare lamp into 120 V/230 V mains; the driver must be external and GFCI-protected.

Q2. Can I add colour-changing lights to an existing fountain?
Yes. Look for "stand-mounted" or "nozzle-ring" RGB pods that simply sit on the basin floor or screw under the spray nozzle. Units such as the 18 W or 27 W RGB ring light auto-cycle through colours; plug the 2-pin/4-pin cable into the supplied controller, then into your low-voltage transformer.

Q3. Do I have to empty the fountain to install them?
Not always. If the basin is small, you can tip the water out, set the lights, aim them, refill, then fine-tune the angle by hand through the water.
For large fountains, installers lower the fixtures in weighted PVC buckets, plug in underwater connectors, and position them by rod-no drain needed.

Q4. What cable length is supplied, and can I extend it?
Most kits ship with 2–5 m (6–15 ft) of rubber or PVC jacket cable.
If you need more, use waterproof IP68 junction boxes filled with resin or gel; ordinary "waterproof" wire-nuts will leak. Keep total run within voltage-drop limits (≤ 5 %).

1. Check that the 12/24 V supply is stable (multimeter).
2. Swap controller → if the problem moves, the controller is bad.
3. Inspect the underwater plug for moisture; corrosion gives intermittent contact.
4. RGB fixtures: one dead LED channel (R, G, or B) means the internal constant-current driver for that channel has failed; the fixture needs replacement.

Q7. How long do LEDs really last?
50 000 h(≈ 6 years 24/7) is the chip spec; heat and water chemistry decide real life.
Keep the fountain water clean-lime and chlorine coat the lens, blocking heat transfer and shortening life. Rinse lenses every month.

Q8. Can I control them with Alexa, phone app, or music?
Wi-Fi/Bluetooth RGB controllers (Govee, Philips, Tuya) now come in 12–24 V versions; plug between driver and lights.
Musical or DMX shows need a DMX decoder and fountain-grade software; start with a simple RF remote, upgrade later.
